COMMUNITY LIVING FOR HAPPINESS & WELLBEING

COMMUNITY LIVING FOR HAPPINESS & WELLBEING

Are you curious about community living?

Human beings are born to be social creatures but the global pandemic has reinforced how disconnected the Western world has become. Social Media has replaced a lot of face-to-face interaction and people feel unsettled, unsupported and out of sync with with the earth.

“The world is so empty if one thinks only of mountains, rivers & cities; but to know someone who thinks & feels with us, & who, though distant, is close to us in spirit, this makes the earth for us an inhabited garden.”

Goethe

Daily connection

How can community living make a difference to our happiness? Well-being studies have shown that being around people, even strangers, boosts our happiness. (Dunn et al 2014)

At Resonance, our daily life is embedded with moments of connection.

Although currently, we are not running our full schedule, we still regularly meet for morning yoga and evening meditation. We cook and eat together frequently and recently prepared a meal out of home-grown vegetables, foraged fruit and rice – Picadillo de Papaya!

Connection to the earth

Sustainable farming and growing our own food is a huge part of our purpose at Resonance. Each new community member gets a Broccoli growing kit to get them excited about growing their own food. We spend time every day looking after our plants and are especially proud of our pineapples. Did you know they each take 1.5 years to harvest?

We are passionate about taking care of the land and, as a community, we are committed to recycling, composting and we take part in cleaning up the beaches.

Living in Costa Rica means we get to enjoy glorious sunsets and almost every day we go to the beach or one of the mountain cliffs to experience this special part of the day together.

Our daily community life is sprinkled with moments of connection, with each other and with the earth.

Read the next blog to find out about our regular excursions, rituals and fun. We always make room for celebrations!

We are all on this journey together so reach out and tell us your thoughts on community living.

Pura Vida.
